Schools talks on Syria
In September 2015 I started giving talks to Sixth Formers in schools across the UK.
With waves of hysterical international coverage on ISIS and its self-styled Islamic State flooding us in the media, I became worried that a generation is growing up in Britain with very distorted perceptions about Islam, Syria and the Middle East in general.
The talk is therefore my attempt to challenge such misunderstandings by explaining from first hand experience the Syria that lies behind the headlines. It also encourages students to question media stereotyping.
